Austin High had a strong start to their season, winning their first two games. This week, they faced Buda Johnson in their first away game of the season. Unfortunately, despite a hard-fought effort, they fell short with a 44-35 loss.
Bryson Batts had an outstanding performance. At halftime, Austin High was trailing 13-24 and looking to turn things around. Reid Childers sparked momentum with a short run for an Austin High touchdown. The team followed up with a successful two-point conversion, narrowing the gap to 21-30.
Batts responded with a massive 25-yard touchdown, but the play was called back, leaving fans stunned. On the next drive, however, he redeemed himself with a remarkable 70-yard deep throw and an impressive catch for a touchdown, bringing excitement back to the Austin High sideline. Preston Perkins said ” We just couldn’t stop the run because we were struggling to make the tackles.”
Despite the loss, Austin High is determined to bounce back as they prepare to face Temple on the road this Friday at 7:30 PM, aiming to secure their next win.
