Ever wanted to try a local small coffee shop, or find a great new study spot? We visited a few coffee shops in Austin that might be the perfect place for you.
Walking into Mozart’s, the atmosphere was very welcoming. Inside, it was warm, cozy, and rustic-looking. The outside area is by the lake and has fire heaters, which are placed perfectly for guests’ comfort. Lots of people were enjoying their Tuesday morning here, either with a coffee and a snack by the water or working on their computers. Limited seating was available, but the outside was so pleasant it didn’t matter.
I got a Latte peppermint, which was a little overpriced at 6 dollars. It came out hot and was very tasty; you could really taste the peppermint. The coffee was sourced locally, and it wasn’t like anything I had tasted before. Service was friendly, outstanding, and quick.
Mozart’s is a great place to be, nice to walk around, and dog-friendly. There was a lot of wildlife prowling the area, including vultures.
We tried their smoothies to get a better feel for what they do best. Unfortunately, the smoothie was not great, having melted very quickly and not tasting that good. The smoothie was very acidic and almost concentrated.
Still, Mozart’s is overall a great spot to get a coffee or snack, and is very accommodating for those who like to work in coffee shops.
Nate’s Baked Goods & Coffee, located at 401 Orchard Street in Austin, Texas, is a cozy, locally beloved café that offers a variety of baked goods and quality coffee. We tried their house brew and espresso, both of which showcased the rich flavors of their locally roasted Cruiser coffee beans. The espresso was high quality, strong, and bitter, which may appeal to fans of a more traditional coffee. Personally, it wasn’t quite my preference,
But for those who appreciate espresso, I can recommend Nate’s.
Beyond coffee, Nate’s offers a great selection of breakfast options, including cinnamon rolls, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, and tea. The peanut butter cookies were \soft, yummy, and full of flavor, making them a highlight of the trip. Unfortunately, the hibiscus tea was lacking the bright, refreshing flavor we expected, but it wasn’t terrible.
Overall, if you’re looking for a small, welcoming café with high-quality espresso and a solid selection of baked goods near school, Nate’s is worth a visit. While not everything was to my taste, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a quiet morning or a casual coffee break.
Pretty Cute Coffee was the best place we tried by far. This shop is a little pink trailer located in the Zilker Botanical Gardens. The trailer is surrounded by pink benches and cute seating, and is nestled between gardens and trees, making it a beautiful location to go to. The place wasn’t packed at all when we went on a Monday morning, and the service was quick and friendly. The coffee was okay, but the blueberry lemonade was amazing. I’d say the selling point of this spot is the perfect scenery and inviting atmosphere.
Manana is the best place for espresso, and it has a great environment. Located at 111 Sandra Muraida Way, it’s only a five-minute drive away from campus. We got an espresso and a chocolate smoothie, which were both delicious. We do recommend getting the espresso, because of its nice presentation on a small wood plate, as well as the crispest sparkling water.
