Knives Out; A truly ‘Killer’ movie
Rian Johnson directs a great and refreshing movie
Knives Out is a whodunit style movie that was directed by Rian Johnson and had a budget of $40 Million. Crime book writer Harlan Thrombey dies just after his 85th birthday and detective Benoit Blanc comes to the scene to help investigate the mystery. The family is outwardly distraught but that won’t stop Blanc from suspecting each member of the family, questioning them in an in interview style.
The truly star-studded cast consists of Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Jamie Lee Curtis just to name a few.The performances given by the cast are phenomenal. They all work very well with each other and the jokes that they make are spot on. One of the funniest parts of the film is Daniel Craig’s accent and it is hilarious how the cast pokes fun at it. It is somewhat of a parody to the older classic mystery movies. The family dynamic in the film is great and is a joy to watch.
Another great part of the film is the house. It is a central location in the film and is beautiful. It’s on a very nice hill and the fauna is incredibly green and vibrant. A majority of the movie takes place in it and it is reminiscent of Clue, making it a perfect location for a crime-solving movie.
The movie does a good job of keeping the viewer guessing. There are a lot of twists and turns that make anyone a suspect. All of the clues lead up to the big finale at the end which is really funny and is a joy to listen to Benoit Blanc explain who the killer is.
The only problem I have with the movie is that in the middle it can be very slow and tedious. However, it picks up and after that there isn’t a problem.
Knives Out overall is definitely a movie I would recommend if you are into crime or mystery movies and comedies.
I rate it 4.5 maroos out of 5
