Bumblebee, directed by Travis Knight is the newest installment in the Transformers movie franchise. It is about the Autobots fleeing their home planet, Cybertron, to help their kind survive by escaping the Decepticons. Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, sends Bumblebee to Earth to make a base for them. All the while, two unknown Decepticons follow him and try to send a signal to the rest of the Decepticons in order to wipe out the Autobots that remain. With the help of a teenage girl named Charlie, they start to make the base.

The movie takes place in 1987. The movie is surrounded by 80’s culture, and the soundtrack only adds to that nostalgic amazing feeling.

The movie did a phenomenal job on character development and bringing the ideas of them to life. Usually, with a typical sci-fi action, there would be many cheesy one-liners that take you away from the movie but Bumblebee had very few which I appreciated.

Bumblebee felt like the original 90’s tv show which I loved to watch as a young child. It’s astonishing how well the movie crew executed the nostalgia factor in various ways such as the voice of some characters, music that was played, and sound effects.

The Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) special effects were a lot better than expected. With many movies, there seems to always be at least one scene with CGI that is distracting from the main focus of the movie. However, in Bumblebee I did not experience this problem.

The movie had mixed expectations but exceeded mine for sure. It was a fun, comedic, and family-friendly movie that was quite thoroughly put together. It has been fairly well reviewed with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I give it 4/5 Maroos and would highly recommend watching it.
