The wrestling team is making headway in the season so far, with over five competitions won in the season they are thriving in their first year back in 6A.

Junior Diego Moreland has a current record of 15 wins to 6 losses and he made it to the Regional Tournament after placing 4th in the District wrestling at the varsity level.

“I think the season is going very well,” Moreland said.  “We have a lot of beginners and they’ve made a lot of progress from the start of the season. It’s individual and all my hard work goes to me. I don’t have a team to mess it up.”

Senior Nick Riordon has a current record of 3 wins and 8 losses at the JV level.

“I feel I’ve made tremendous progression from the start considering that my record is questionable,”  Riordon said. “So my progression makes up for the losses.”

Senior Kimberly Martinez Currently has a record of 12 wins and 10 losses wrestling at the Varsity level and made it to the Regional Tournament after placing second in Districts.

“I liked that it’s independent and you get out what you put into it,” Martinez said “I like that you can be closer to the rest of the team over time. Everyone is supportive of one another so it’s good. I like my teammates and I get to know them personally. It’s a way to interact with the people that I like to hang out with.”

The team is made up of nearly ten wrestlers which allows each member to receive more attention and direction from coaches.

“I love the bond you make with your team. It’s not like any other sport. The team does a good job at including everybody and making sure that everyone is caught up with what is going on,”  Riordon said.
