The girls soccer team honored their favorite teachers by sweeping Lanier with a combined scored of 18-0 Tuesday night.  The JV White team started off the evening by defeating the Lady Vikings 2-0.  The Maroons held Lanier to only one shot on goal.  The JV White finishes the first half of district undefeated and has not allowed a single goal in district play!  Congratulations to Coach Carlton and her girls.  They will play again Friday in a non-district match-up in Fredericksburg.

With the change from division 6A to 5A the teams and competition have also changed.

“The 5A division is not as good and not as competitive as the 6A district, but some teams can be slightly competitive,” Hagert said.

The JV Maroon took to the pitch next and blasted the Vikings 8-0.  The JV Maroon also finishes the first half of district play undefeated and has not allowed a single goal in district play.  Congrats to Coach Perez and his young team on a terrific first half of the season.  The JV Maroon will be back in action Friday vs. Travis at House Park, game time is 6 pm.

The Varsity completed the sweep of Lanier also by the score of 8-0.  Sophomore Mia Czarnecki had 2 goals,  while freshman Emma Hagert, Sophomores Sarah Jane Moe, Ella Rosi, Gracie Jackson and juniors Carmen Larkin and Jena Carr scored 1 goal each.  Racking up an assist for the night were Mia Czarnecki and Sarah Jane Moe with 2, Ella Rosi, Hally Sasser, and Riley Moore with one each.  The entire team held Lanier to only one shot on goal and splitting time between the pipes was juniors Aly Singh, Jena Carr and Riley Moore.  The Varsity remains first in district with a 7-0 record, scoring 41 goals and only giving up 1.  They return to action Friday against Travis to start the 2nd half of district.  Game time at House Park is 7:45 pm.

Sophomore Ella Rosi believes many factors contribute to the team’s success, but one factor in particular places the girls varsity team at the head of the district.

“I would say it plays a big role having good players, but the team’s chemistry is really what puts us ahead of all other teams, and it really helps that everybody is good friends with each other,” Rosi said. “I believe it shouldn’t be too challenging to maintain undefeated in the district but the next major step is to practice and prepare for the playoff games at the end of the season.”
